Today companies are using the Internet as a primary tool for conducting business. One strategic use is for the purpose of streamlining print supply chains through eCommerce management tools that allow vendor consolidation. Outcomes include reduced paperwork, faster bill payment and real-time access to data, inventory and historical records. Of the many tools available, how do you know which is best for you? Below, Imagine! Print Solutions presents a new solution for production file transfer and shows how it stands out from other methods.

Imagine File Transfer Solution

Digital Asset Management system
Files are uploaded through an intuitive Digital Asset Management website via a user centric login authentification which includes the ability to enter comments related to the file. Whenever files are uploaded, an e-mail notification is sent to buyer and vendor (Sales rep, CSR and Prepress)

Benefits of the Imagine File Transfer Solution

Automatic e-mail notification
Automatic e-mail notification is sent to buyer, vendor sales rep, CSR and Preflight department  as soon as the file upload has been completed. In this way all parties know in real time that the file has been uploaded. This eliminates a lot of follow up with creative personnel on the buyer's side (internal creative or agency) and on the Imagine side with Preflight personnel.

Upload Comments
System enables the entry of comments related to the file being uploaded which become embedded with the file and is attached to the auto e-mail notification.

More secure than FTP
Each user is provided with a unique login, thus if and when employees leave the company their access can be disabled.

No File Size restriction
System accepts all files sizes.

Current File Transfer Methods

CD
Files are downloaded on to CD media which requires either shipping CD or calling a sales rep to pick up the file.
Problems with this protocol: File transfer is not real time. Cost of media and shipping, albeit small.

e-mail
Files are attached to an e-mail and sent to the sales rep.
Problems with this protocol: There is a file size restriction. Due to virus prevention software, some file types commonly used in Print Production are automatically stripped from incoming e-mail messages (zip, gif).

FTP
Files are uploaded to an FTP site for pick up by the vendor.
Problems with this protocol: Not a very secure protocol as a general vendor login is used for authentication. If customer employees leave the company, it is difficult to disable their access.
